The Tsunami that devastated the Pacific in December 2004, also reached the area from south of Chennai down to Trivandrum.  The pictures below were taken as we traveled from Fisherman's Cove to the Temple area to the south. Picture 1 shows an area that used to be a village.  Picture 2 shows an area of hastily built shacks made of sticks that has replaced a village.  Picture 3 shows the relative placement of the temporary housing in a washed out field.
