South Island - West Coast  Reluctantly, we left Ross, Wendy, Momorangi and Queen Charlotte behind and traveled on to the West Coast.

   Hokitika A gold and jade town on the coast 1/2 way to Franz Joseph.  Reputed to be the jade capital.  We found excellent blown glass and jade craft. 

           A beautiful town nestled against the Alps.

As we moved south out of Hokitika we took some side trips   to explore a few areas  east of the main drag   and moved on to Franz Joseph Glacier  Top
